Sam DiChiara’s first foray into dog photography was an act of altruism. While a student at Auburn University, he volunteered to take photographs of orphan dogs for a local humane society.
That’s how John White first learned of his great talent.
“I was totally knocked out by Sam’s work. I’ve seen a lot of great outdoor photography through the years, have known some pretty famous photographers, but Sam not only is a highly gifted technician, he’s an artist. He captures a dog’s personality.”
John soon asked Sam to accompany Zula the Dog and him on bird hunts and field trials. Sam even learned to ride a horse to follow dogs being trained for the trials.
The resulting work beautifully portrays genuine hunting dogs in action. Many of the photographs on this website are by Sam DiChiara.
